It's time for #strsharesunday! Today we are sharing Chalets Hygge
Carrie and Felipe, can we be friends with you?
These Canadian ex-corporate-executives-turned-hospitality-gurus buy old ski chalets and they rehab them themselves along with their two fur babies.
Their places are top notch . You can tell they put the utmost care into the construction and the redesign, and they really have their guest at the forefront of everything that they do.
But please, check them out. I mean, you are going to want to go stay at their places, all of their photography on their Instagram account is great. You can so many guest photos in there, and so you really can picture yourself at the property.
We know a lot of times we get really heavy sometimes with just interior photos, but not really seeing the way that the property is used, and we believe that if you can show humans in your space in a way that helps them really envision themselves there and how they would use it is a great way to invite...
We’re getting summer ready with our safety captain, Justin Ford. He's an international safety expert who works at Breezeway and he has an undying passion to make short-term rentals safer, which is good for you, the owner, the guest and our industry.
After 13 years in the vacation rental industry as a Property Manager, 15 years as a firefighter and four years in the US Coast Guard, Justin combined his experiences to create a niche within the short-term rental industry that did not exist in 2013; short-term rental safety. In 2014, Justin created the first vacation rental safety checklist for the vacation rental industry, and in 2017 Justin created Dwell Safe®, a certification program devoted to the safety of vacation rentals, which he sold to Breezeway® in 2019.
In this episode we talk about some recent accidents in rental properties that remind us of how important it is to be legally up to code in all properties, and have the right equipment, technology and...

t's time for #strsharesunday! Today we are sharing Meet Me at Mango
We absolutely love the name and logo of this space! It's after the three mango trees in her front yard! So cute! This feed is SO fun to scroll through, because it's just as bright and colorful as the property.
Host Shoshana is located in Fort Lauderdale, so please check her out! We can tell that she poured her heart and soul into this property. One thing that really sticks out to us is that she has a lot of beds, but she has designed this space in a really tasteful way while accommodating these beds. If you know that you need to sleep a lot of people, it's always great to see how other hosts are doing that so you can compare!
Another thing Shoshana has done that I haven't seen as much with hosts is that she has the shoppable button inside her Instagram feed. It's like a little shopping bag we users can shop items used in her rental! For instance, she has an outdoor shower, and that links to Florin Decor....
Have you ever thought about investing in an international short term rental property? We've thought about investing in a property in Mexico, but since we’re unfamiliar with the culture and market, it’s intimidating to know where to start. So, we thought we would bring in one of our hosting Business Mastery members, Julie Ramsay, to tell her incredible journey of going from backpacking in Australia to owning in Costa Rica while calling Canada home.
In 2019, Julie and her family sold almost everything they owned, including the house, downsized into a townhouse, and made their "someday" dreams come true when they moved to the southern pacific jungles of Costa Rica. They found the perfect one-bedroom apartment with a private rooftop deck, located on a long stretch of quiet beach, in the small village of Esterillos Oeste and two months later, Rocamar Cinco was launched on Airbnb. Within 6 months, Julie had achieved Superhost status. She loves creating a comfortable space for...

Paul asks:
My Toronto Airbnb cottage has a living space on the basement level, which can be rented separately from the 3-bedroom cottage above. What is the proper host etiquette if I decide to stay in the basement unit while the cottage is being rented to guests?

It's time for #strsharesunday and today we are sharing Front Range A-Frame
Public service announcement to all of you short-term rental hosts out there....Whitney, love your account! But one of the things we love the most is in Whitney's instagram bio, she has, 'not seeking collabs at the moment,' and we respect that!
We bet Whitney was being bombarded (hosts..maybe you are too!) with potential collabs from influencers that would like to stay for free in exchange for photos or a shout out on their page. We respect that she is putting that there because we venture to guess that a lot of time and energy is going into maybe some not-so-fruitful collabs.
So hosts, we just want to take this time for a PSA to really vet those collaborations. They can be...ego-boosting.... in the beginning, but we just want to remind you, you've got to make sure that both of you are getting results there, and you need to have a clear definition of what you want that to result in for yourself. You also...
If you’ve ever been a victim of this unfortunate infestation, you know it's both unpredictable and something you definitely want to avoid. No one wants to deal with this problem on your property, but it can happen to anyone. It has nothing to do with how clean you are or how well vetted your guests are, bed bugs are something many of us will come across at some point or another. Someone from our Business Mastery membership recently asked us how to handle this issue, so we’re sharing our tips for preventing this infestation and what to do if it happens to you.

Anna asks:
Our neighbor has asked us to start managing their property as a vacation rental. It’s the same layout as our property, with the same amenities. What do you recommend as a marketing strategy to list both properties, and perhaps book them for one stay for larger groups?

It's time for #strsharesunday! Today we are sharing High Low Stays
This teeny tiny dome is located in the Brazilian wilderness, but you have got to check them out because hey are making it happen
One of the most notable things we want to highlight is how they've utilized the space in this dome and how they've broken it up and have their sitting area, their bedroom, and their kitchen area.
Head to their account and click their link in bio to check out their Airbnb listing, because every single photo they have is so intentional and so well done. We could all learn several lessons from the way they are showing exactly what their dome is.
We've been getting a lot of emails lately about from hosts who feel like they're not getting booked as often as they were. So here's the deal: you've going to be competitive, and the best way to do that is to sell your property through your photos.
Nice job High Low Stays!
